I am super excited to share my review with you today for Never Look Back, that after all the blog tours I have taken part in this is actually my first ever audio blog tour. Massive thank you to Tracy Fenton for inviting me to take part.
She was the most brutal killer of our time. And she may have been my mother…
When website columnist Robin Diamond is contacted by true crime podcast producer Quentin Garrison, she assumes it’s a business matter. It’s not. Quentin’s podcast, Closure, focuses on a series of murders in the 1970s, committed by teen couple April Cooper and Gabriel LeRoy. It seems that Quentin has reason to believe Robin’s own mother may be intimately connected with the killings.
Robin thinks Quentin’s claim is absurd. But is it? The more she researches the Cooper/LeRoy murders herself, the more disturbed she becomes by what she finds. Living just a few blocks from her, Robin’s beloved parents are the one absolute she’s always been able to rely upon, especially now amid rising doubts about her husband and frequent threats from internet trolls. Robin knows her mother better than anyone.
But then her parents are brutally attacked, and Robin realises she doesn’t know the truth at all…
This is the first book that I have read by the author and it has left me wondering why on earth I have never read her books before. Read I mean listened to LOL The story is narrated by James Fouhey and Jorjeana Marie .
It took me a while to get used to the american accents with me being so used to a british. I then settled into a gripping twisty story We follow a story alternating between the characters Robin and Quentin. Who really bring the characters and story to life. Feeling the terror and emotion through their voices. Making it feel so real and like I was there with them.
This is one of those stories that wouldn’t be what it is without the characters they are brilliant. The story is full of suspense and tension. The more I listened to it the more I wanted to know, talk about addictive.
Never Look Back is a well crafted story that would make a brilliant film. Which I highly recommend .
