I am super excited to share my review with you today for Rage And Retribution by Lorraine Mace on which is out today.
Can two wrongs ever make a right?
A man is found by the side of a canal, comatose and brutally attacked.
It quickly becomes clear that someone is abducting men and subjecting them to horrific acts of torture. After three days they’re released, fighting for their lives and refusing to speak.
A councillor is accused of fraud.
Montague Mason is an upstanding member of the community. That is until he’s publicly accused of stealing the youth centre’s funds – an accusation that threatens to rip through the very heart of the community and expose his best-kept secret. But how far would he go to protect himself?
Two cases. One deadly answer.
As the two cases collide, D.I. Paolo Sterling finds he has more questions than answers. And, when torture escalates to murder, he suddenly finds himself in a race against time to find the killer and put an end to the depravity – once and for all.
When a book keeps you up until the earlier hours of the morning you know its a winner. Which is definitely the case with this book. I absolutely freaking loved it.
So this is the fourth book in the series, and I am wondering why on earth I have never read this series before because it is so damn good. In fact It is so good, that I am going to buy the first three books and read it from the beginning. Not that I need to because this can easily be read has a standalone.
For me it is all about the beginning and the end right?! Well let me tell you the opening scene in this story is hard core giving me a nail biting OMFG moment leaving me wanting to know more. This is brutal to say the least. So not for readers who like a lighter read. And that ending, well I didn’t see that coming.
This story is dark, gritty and addictive and for me the first time I met DI Sterling. Oh boy I love him. He is a caring sole, head strong and determined. The author has woven some personal scenes into this well crafted story. And I just wanted to give him a hug. Anyone that hasn’t read this series is going to love him. The relationship between him and David is brilliant.
This is one of those stories that felt so real and made me feel like I was watching it on TV.
Talk about keeping me on the edge of my seat. There I am lying in bed reading this and find myself sitting on the edge of it biting my nails! There are plenty of uncomfortable scenes and this book will keep you guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had it all worked out. The author throws a twist in the mix and throws me sideways. What a rollercoaster ride I have been on reading this.
I am blown away by this story and LOVE everything about it. I am so excited that I have found a new author to read. This is a must read for fans who like their books dark and gruesome. Rage and Retribution quite simply blew my mind! Which I highly recommend giving it all the stars. I cannot for the next installment.
Thank you to Rachel Gilby for a copy and for inviting me to take part on the tour
