The Girl in the Grave (Beth Adams Book 1) by Helen Phifer #BooksOnTour @bookouture @helenphifer1

I am delighted to share my review for The Girl In The Grave by Helen Phifer with you today on Blog Tour

At least they’d found her. Once the site was processed and the girl’s body removed, they’d be able to identify her so that her family could give her the burial she deserved. This innocent girl was far too young to be lying in a grave, crushed under the weight of someone else’s coffin…

When the body of a teenage girl is found hidden inside a stranger’s grave in a small-town cemetery in the Lake District, an urgent call is made to Forensic Pathologist Beth Adams. One look at the beautiful girl’s broken body is enough to bring Beth out of hiding for the first time since an attempt on her own life…

Beth doesn’t believe it’s a coincidence that the victim was found the same day a threatening gift was left on the doorstep of her secluded home. Her instincts are telling her that it’s a trap, that she should run for safety. But she knows she’s the only one with the expertise to help her trusted friend, Detective Josh Walker, crack the most shocking case of his career.

The tiny traces of material Beth finds beneath the victim’s fingernails is the break in the case the team need to chase down this twisted killer. But this critical lead comes at a dangerous price, exposing Beth’s whereabouts and dragging her back into the line of fire once again.

With Beth’s own life on the line, the investigation is already cracking under the pressure. Then another local girl goes missing… Can Beth stay alive long enough to catch the killer before he claims his next victim?

An absolutely gripping new crime thriller that will grab fans of Patricia Gibney, LJ Ross and Angela Marsons from the very first page and leave them gasping for breath by the last.

My Thoughts

The Girl in the Grave is the first book in the series and is exactly what the title says when we meet forensic pathologist Beth Adams who is called when this discovery is made.

With an OMG start this book with have you racing towards finish line, in no time at all has we try to piece the puzzle together and work out what actually happened to the girl and of course find out who the killer is.

I loved that this story the main character is a pathologist straight away this brings something different to the story But NOT forgetting Dectective Josh Walker. Oh boy I love him and I mean love him I’m actually rather jealous of his his friendship with Beth LOL They make a really good team and I feel there friendship is going to be something more!

Do be be warned there are some rather uncomfortable scenes when Beth carries out her examinations. Scenes that will make you squirm. Please don’t say I didn’t warn you.

With this being the first book in the series there is plenty of character build up at the start of the story which is woven into the plot. All though this is a fast paced read the second part really steps up a notch when we are so much closer to finding out who the killer is and it is a race against time to catch him.

Talk about keep me on the edge of my sit! This book is so much more than I thought it was going to be. It is brilliantly written, I loved the plot and the setting and the characters….in fact I loved everything about it.

Giving it all the stars….I cannot wait to find out what happens next!
