I am delighted to share my review today for Tara Lyons first standalone The Paramedics Daughter which is out today.
Would you ever lie to your family to protect yourself?
Paramedic Abi Quinn is hailed as a hero by the patients she saves with the London Ambulance Service; but a secret she’s kept since she was a teenager now threatens to shatter that perfect illusion.
When her daughter Rose goes missing while studying at Brighton university, and ghosts from her past return to haunt her, Abi’s caught in a race against time to untangle the web of lies she set in motion over twenty years ago.
Everyone has something to lose.
Everyone is trying to protect themselves.
Everyone is broken.
But what lengths will they go to in order to stop the truth from being exposed?
I am a massive fan of Tara’s DI Hamilton series and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this beauty…I mean check that cover out! Absolutely stunning if I do say so myself. Not forgetting the title, straight away I am over whelmed with curiosity knowing that a paramedic is involved. I cant say that I have seen or read any books within this subject matter before, so I am already thinking this is going to be a refreshing change.
What I wasn’t prepared for, was the fact that this story is told in first person! Which I am not an overly kin on…well I wasn’t anyway. So straight away I am aware that this is nothing like anything that Tara has written before. Now that I have read it I am like….WOW BLOODY WOW Freaking amazing!
*note to self…..Do not read this before venturing out to work!
Yes I started this before going to work, thinking to myself. Oh I will just start it and read one chapter. What a mistake that was, I didn’t want to go to work.
The story draws you in right from the very first page, With this being told in first person we get inside inside her head and follow a story about a secret she has kept for twenty years.
Tara has really done her research which is shown throughout the story has we take a look into the life of a paramedic Abi Quinn. With this being told in first person we get inside inside her head and follow a story about her life a secret she has kept for twenty years…..Yes I was dying to know what this secret was.
Making me feel right there in the story, talk about tension and suspense, the more I read the more I wanted to know. This story is sure to keep you on tender hooks.
Just when I thought I had it all worked out the author throws in another twist and I have to say crikey I wasn’t expecting that! This is one of those stories that will really get inside your head and Tara is a natural at psychological thrillers. What more can I say other than I loved it and highly recommend it, giving it all the stars.
Thank you to Bloodhound for inviting me to take part
